NPCI Expands 'UPI One World' Wallet Service to International Visitors at AI Summit
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the travel experience for international visitors at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. From February 16-20, 2026, in New Delhi, visitors from over 40 countries will have access to the UPI One World wallet service, revolutionizing their interactions with India's vibrant culture and cutting-edge technology.
This innovative pilot program empowers inbound foreign travelers to make seamless, secure, and real-time Person-to-Merchant (P2M) UPI payments during their stay in India. By utilizing the 'Made in India' UPI technology, visitors can explore India's rich cultural offerings and culinary delights without the need for an Indian mobile number or bank account. This accessibility is a testament to NPCI's commitment to fostering a more inclusive and interconnected global digital economy.
The 'UPI One World' wallet is conveniently available through authorized PPI issuers at New Delhi International Airport and the NPCI Pavilion (Hall 14, Stall number 14.16) in Bharat Mandapam. Travelers can load their wallets using various payment methods and effortlessly make transactions by scanning UPI QR codes via the PPI-UPI application. This streamlined approach eliminates the hassle of carrying cash or navigating foreign exchange complexities, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience.
Shohini Rajola, Executive Director - Growth at NPCI, emphasized the significance of this initiative. She stated, 'UPI is the world's largest real-time payment system. By extending the 'UPI One World' service to foreign guests at the India AI Impact Summit, we are providing a convenient gateway to experience India's real-time payments ecosystem and the brilliance of 'Made in India' technology.'
This initiative not only showcases the potential of smoother cross-border payment systems but also highlights their role in fostering a more interconnected global digital economy. As the summit unfolds, visitors will have the opportunity to witness firsthand how seamless payments can enhance their experiences and contribute to a more connected and efficient world.
