Dale Earnhardt Jr. Returns to Racing at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (2026)

Get ready for an exciting comeback! Dale Earnhardt Jr. is back in the racing game, and it's a thrilling announcement that has fans buzzing.

On Tuesday, Earnhardt revealed his plans to race in the upcoming CARS Tour event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on April 11. He'll be behind the wheel of his iconic No. 8 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet, representing JR Motorsports.

"I'm thrilled to be racing at Nashville Fairgrounds," Earnhardt shared on Dale Jr. Download. "It's been a while since I've felt this excited about a race. I'm driving the Bass Pro Shops car, and I can't wait to see how it performs."

But here's where it gets controversial... This will be the first time the CARS Tour's Late Model Stock and Pro Late Model classes compete at Nashville Fairgrounds. Earnhardt, who is a co-owner of the CARS Tour alongside some big names like Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and Justin Marks, will be there as a racer.

At 50 years old, Earnhardt has proven his skills in eight CARS Tour events since 2022. He's made four starts in 2025, with an impressive 10th-place finish at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, S.C.

So, what about the NASCAR Cup Series? It seems like Earnhardt is sticking to a limited schedule on the CARS Tour. However, a return to the NASCAR Cup Series is off the table. Last month, the NASCAR Hall of Famer shared that his wife, Amy, suggested he compete in the 2027 Daytona 500.

"Amy told me I should run the Daytona 500 next year. I was shocked! We were just relaxing in bed after a race, and she said, 'You should do it.' I was like, 'Are you serious? Are you feeling okay?' It's a big decision, and I'm still processing it."

Unfortunately, it looks like that won't be happening. Earnhardt clarified on X, addressing a reply to journalist Toby Christie.

"I wanted to set the record straight about my retirement. Amy wasn't to blame for my decision back then. She got some unfair criticism, and I wanted to clear that up. I won't be racing in the Cup Series, but it's not because of her."

Earnhardt has had an incredible career, including winning the Daytona 500 in 2004 and 2014. He's also finished as the runner-up in 2001, 2010, 2012, and 2013.

So, what do you think? Are you excited for Earnhardt's return to racing? And this is the part most people miss... It's not just about the race; it's about the journey and the stories behind these iconic racers.

Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions in the comments! Let's discuss and celebrate the world of racing together.
